Gulf State Park is nestled into Gulf Shores, AL on 2.5 miles of beautiful sugar sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. This recreational oasis opened in 1939 boasts a total of 6,500 acres of marshland, boggy tea-colored streams, pine forests, and three spring-fed, fresh-water lakes. Yes, Gulf State Park has gorgeous white sand, surging surf, seagulls and a variety of activities, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. The Park welcomes visitors and residents to enjoy the wide range of amenities available at the park; rent a bike and explore the miles of biking trails, fish at any one of the fresh-water lakes, enjoy a hike to the butterfly shelter or hang-out at the Woodside restaurant. The new Pier (open in mid-September) on the beach side of Park is 2,448 feet in length and is home to fishing, ice cream and a great place to photograph the beauty of the beach and surf. Gulf State Park boredom is not an option!
